Trapezius Muscle attached to bone and functions

The trapezius muscle is a fascinating and versatile muscle located on the posterior aspect of the neck and thorax. Let’s explore its anatomy and functions:

Descending (Superior) Fibers: Attach to the lateral third of the clavicle.

Transverse (Middle) Fibers: Insert into the medial acromial margin and the superior crest of the spine of the scapula.

Trapezius muscle function :
  • Supports shoulder movements.
  • Stabilizes and moves the scapula.
  • Plays a role in maintaining posture.
  • Aids in head balance by controlling the cervical spine.
  • Maintains scapulohumeral rhythm through attachments on the clavicle and scapula.
  • In summary, the trapezius muscle is not only a key player in shoulder function but also contributes significantly to overall posture and movement.
